The self-willed manmukh wanders, lost in the darkness. ||1||

In plain words

Pulled two ways, following a twisted mind, a person acts as if they cannot see.

The one who turns only toward their own wants wanders lost in the dark, like someone in a thick gray fog.

A heart split and self-centered fumbles in a fog of its own.
The deeper layer

A heart pulled two ways and turned only toward itself wanders in fog.

Dubidhaa durmat adhulee kaar — split in two directions, acting without inner sight. Manmukh bharmai majh gubaar: the self-turned heart (manmukh) wanders in fog. The blindness here is inner confusion, not physical.

A Question to Sit With

When have you felt pulled two ways at once — and how did you find your footing?
