ਸਗਲੀ ਭੂਲੈ ਨਹੀ ਸਬਦੁ ਅਚਾਰੁ ॥
saglee bhoolai nahee sabad achaar.
All are deluded and confused, without the Word of the Shabad and good conduct.
ਸੋ ਸਮਝੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ॥੪॥
so samjhai jis gur kartaar. ||4||
He alone is instructed in this, who is blessed by the Guru, the Creator. ||4||

Without the Word and good, honest living, everyone goes astray.
Only the one blessed by the Guru, the Creator, understands.
Understanding is received — the Guru's blessing opens it.
Understanding comes as a gift: the one the Guru blesses comes to see.
Saglee bhoolai nahee sabad achaar — all go astray without the Word and good conduct. So samjhai jis gur kartaar: only the one the Guru-Creator has blessed understands. Understanding is received, not manufactured.
