Verse 6 of 9

Nothing Left to Fear

ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਾਕਰ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਭਾਣੇ ॥
gur kay chaakar thaakur bhaanay.
The Guru's servants are pleasing to our Lord and Master.
ਬਖਸਿ ਲੀਏ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਮ ਕਾਣੇ ॥੫॥
bakhas lee-ay naahee jam kaanay. ||5||
The Lord forgives them, and they no longer fear the Messenger of Death. ||5||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Those who serve the Guru are dear to my Master.

The One forgives them, and they no longer fear death.

Wrapped in the One's kindness, even the biggest fears let go.
The deeper layer

Those who serve the Guru are dear to the One, forgiven, and free of the fear of death.

Gur ke chaakar thaakur bhaane — the Guru's servants are dear to the One. Bakhas lee-e naahee jam kaane: forgiven and embraced, they no longer live under the shadow of death (jam). Fear falls away inside that kindness.

A Question to Sit With

What helps a fear feel smaller when it is looming large?
