In plain words

There is only One. And the One is found by the True Guru's grace — a gift that is always here, waiting for an open heart.

Remember the Naam of the One, my brother, and turn green and alive.

By the blessing written for you, this lovely springtime of the soul is yours.

The woods, the grass and all three worlds are in bloom, and you receive the fruit of sweet nectar.

Meeting holy people, peace wells up, and every wrong is wiped away.

Nanak says: remember the One Naam, and you will never again be sent wandering from birth to birth.

Remember the Naam, and your whole life turns green and alive, like a garden in spring.
The deeper layer

Remember the Naam, and you turn green and alive, like a field in spring.

The Basant Kee Vaar opens here with hohu hari-aa: become green. Remembering har kaa naam, the Naam of the One, makes a person come alive the way spring turns a brown field green. Ih rut suhaa-ee: this lovely season, the springtime of the soul, comes as a blessing. Van trin tribhavan ma-oli-aa: woods, grass and all three worlds are in bloom, and the amrit fal, the nectar-fruit, is given. Mil saadhoo: meeting holy people, peace wells up and every shadow lifts. Remember the One Naam, and the long, restless wandering ends.

A Question to Sit With

What in your life feels like it is ready to turn green and bloom if you tend it?
