Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The five strong pulls inside are tied down when you lean on the True One.
The One leads us to stay close at the One's own feet, and stands right here among us.
All sickness and sorrow are wiped away, and you are always fresh and well.
Day and night, remember the Naam, and you will never die again.
Nanak says: the One we came from is the One we merge back into.
Lean on the One, and the restless pulls grow calm, and you become fresh and new.
Panjay badhay: the five strong forces of craving, anger, greed, attachment and pride are tied down when a person leans on the True One. Vich da-yu kharho-aa: the Beloved stands right in our midst, close by. Then comes spring freshness again: rog sog sabh mit ga-ay, sorrows and sicknesses wiped away, and nit navaa niro-aa, always new, always well. Day and night the Naam is held. At the end comes the great homecoming: jis tay upji-aa … so-ee fir ho-aa, the One we came from is the One we merge back into, like a drop returning to its ocean.
What helps you feel fresh and new again after a hard or heavy day?
