Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

True Guru, I give my whole self to You in thanks.

You have cut away all my confusion and doubt.

Ramanand says: my Master is the One who fills everything.

The Guru's Word cuts away the karma of millions of old deeds.

One word from the Guru can lift a lifetime of tangled confusion.
The deeper layer

Thanks pours out to the Guru, who cuts away all confusion and doubt.

Satgur mai balihaaree tor means True Guru, I give myself to You in thanks. Jin sakal bikal bharam kaatay mor means You cut away all my confusion and doubt. Bharam means doubt, like a tangled knot.

Think of a necklace chain all knotted up in a drawer. A patient helper works the knots loose, and suddenly it hangs free.

Raamaanand su-aamee ramat barahm means Raamaanand's Master is the One who fills everything. And gur kaa sabad kaatai kot karam means the Guru's Word cuts away millions of old deeds. However heavy the past, the Word can lift it.

A Question to Sit With

Who has helped untangle something confusing for you?
