Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
A person will even die for the sake of their money.
In the same way, the saints never let go of the Naam of the One.
Hold what matters most as fiercely as people hold their treasure.
Some people hold their money very tight, and the saints hold the Naam just as tight.
The verse says a person will even give their life for their wealth. In the same way, the sant jan, the saints, never let go of raam naam, the Naam of the One.
Picture a child gripping a favorite toy so hard that no one can pull it away. That is the kind of grip Namdev means. The point is how strong the holding is. The loving heart grips the Naam with that same strength.
A Question to Sit With
What do you hold onto most tightly, and is it something that lasts?
