Don't Let Doubt Confuse You

ਕਹਤ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮਾਰਿ ਜੀਵਾਲੇ ਸੋਇ ॥
kahat naanak maar jeevaalay so-ay.
Says Nanak, He alone kills and revives.
ਐਸਾ ਬੂਝਹੁ ਭਰਮਿ ਨ ਭੂਲਹੁ ਕੋਇ ॥੪॥੩॥
aisaa boojhhu bharam na bhoolahu ko-ay. ||4||3||
Understand this well - do not be confused by doubt. ||4||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Nanak says: the One alone ends life and gives life again.

Understand this well, and let no one wander lost in doubt.

The same caring One ends things and revives them — so don't let doubt spin you.
The deeper layer

The same One ends life and gives life, so you can stand steady, free of doubt.

Kahat naanak maar jeevaalay so-ay: Nanak says, the One alone ends life and brings it alive again. Aisaa boojhhu bharam na bhoolahu ko-ay: understand it this way, and do not wander lost in doubt. Endings and beginnings come from one source, and that is steadying to know.

A Question to Sit With

What helps you feel steady when you're full of doubts?
