Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

This soul is lovingly tuned to the Naam of the One.

It is set free from old age and death, and its doubt runs away.

Tuning your heart to the One quietly loosens even your biggest fears.
The deeper layer

A heart lovingly tuned to the Naam is set free, and its doubt runs away.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. ih jee-o raam naam liv laagai — this soul is lovingly tuned to the Naam of the One. Think of a guitar string turned until it rings true. When the heart is tuned like that, jaraa maran chhootai — it is freed from old age and death. That means freedom from the fear of them, so the heart feels release instead of dread.

And bharam bhaagai: doubt and confusion run away.

A Question to Sit With

What is a fear that gets smaller when you feel calm and connected?
