Verse 7 of 9

Still, No One Finds His Limit

ਕੋਟਿ ਜਗ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਦਰਬਾਰ ॥
kot jag jaa kai darbaar.
Millions of charitable feasts are held in His Court,
ਗੰਧ੍ਰਬ ਕੋਟਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਜੈਕਾਰ ॥
ganDharab kot karahi jaikaar.
and millions of celestial singers celebrate His victory.
ਬਿਦਿਆ ਕੋਟਿ ਸਭੈ ਗੁਨ ਕਹੈ ॥
bidi-aa kot sabhai gun kahai.
Millions of sciences all sing His Praises.
ਤਊ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਲਹੈ ॥੬॥
ta-oo paarbarahm kaa ant na lahai. ||6||
Even so, the limits of the Supreme Lord God cannot be found. ||6||

In plain words

Millions of feasts of giving are held in the One's court, and millions of heavenly singers cheer the One's victory.

Millions of kinds of learning all sing the One's praises.

Even so, no one can find the edge of the Supreme One.

No matter how much we praise or study, the One is always more.
The deeper layer

No matter how much we praise the One, the One is always more.

Jag are big feasts of giving, and millions of them are held in the One's court. Gandharab are heavenly singers, and they shout jaikaar, cheers of victory. Bidi-aa means every kind of learning. All of it sings the One's good qualities.

"ta-oo paarbarahm kaa ant na lahai" — even so, no one finds the edge of the Supreme One. Paarbarahm means the One beyond everything. Imagine trying to measure the ocean with a spoon. You could scoop forever. Every praise, however big, falls short, and that is humbling and wonderful.

A Question to Sit With

Can you think of something so wonderful that words never quite capture it?
