In plain words

Rama, with millions of monkey helpers, overcame Raavan's army.

Billions of Puraanas, the old story books, praise the One without end.

The One humbled the pride of Duryodhan, the proud prince.

The deepest power gently lifts the humble and softens the proud.
The deeper layer

The One lifts up the humble and brings down pride.

Here Kabir draws on stories many families love. In the Ramayana, a huge army of helpers defeats the army of Raavan, a proud and cruel king. The Puraanas are old books of stories, and they praise the One without end. In the Mahabharata, the proud prince Duryodhan is humbled.

These stories are shared treasures. The thread running through them is simple. Think of a team that brags loudly before a match and then loses. Pride can look strong, but it does not last. The One stands with the humble.

A Question to Sit With

Why do you think pride so often comes before a fall?
