In plain words

Millions of gods of love cannot match the One.

The One wins the hearts of all beings from deep inside.

Kabir says: please hear me, O Lord of the World.

I ask for the gift of fearless dignity, a heart that stands tall and unafraid.

Of everything you could ask for, a fearless heart may be the best gift of all.
The deeper layer

Of all the gifts you could ask for, a fearless heart is the one worth asking.

This is the close, where Kabir signs his name. Kandarap is the god of love and beauty. Millions of them could not match the One. "antar antar mansaa hareh" — the One wins hearts from deep inside.

Then Kabir makes his one request. He asks for abhai pad, the state of fearlessness: a soul at rest and unafraid. He asks for it as daan, a gift given out of love. He could ask the boundless Giver for anything. He asks only to be free of fear. It is like a child who could pick any toy, and asks just to hold a parent's hand in the dark.

A Question to Sit With

If you could ask for just one gift for your heart, what would it be?
