ਅਬ ਜੀਅ ਜਾਨਿ ਐਸੀ ਬਨਿ ਆਈ ॥
ab jee-a jaan aisee ban aa-ee.
Now, I know within my soul, that such an arrangement has been made;

mila-o gupaal neesaan bajaa-ee. ||3||
I will meet with my Lord by the beat of the drum. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Now, deep in my heart, I know it has all been arranged:

I will meet the One, the Keeper of the World, to the beat of the drum.

You can walk toward what you love openly and without fear.
The deeper layer

Deep inside you can know that your meeting with the One is already arranged, and you can go to it openly, with joy.

Ab jee-a jaan aisee ban aa-ee: now, deep in my heart, I know it has all been arranged. It is a quiet certainty.

Mila-o gupaal neesaan bajaa-ee: I will meet the One with drums beating. Gupaal is an old name for the One, the keeper of all. A neesaan is a big drum.

Think of a wedding procession with drums and music, where everyone knows who's coming.

Namdev won't meet the One in secret. He'll go openly, unashamed and full of joy.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you look forward to with real joy?
