Verse 3 of 4

Singing From Behind The Temple

ਲੈ ਕਮਲੀ ਚਲਿਓ ਪਲਟਾਇ ॥
lai kamlee chali-o paltaa-ay.
I picked up my blanket and went back,
ਦੇਹੁਰੈ ਪਾਛੈ ਬੈਠਾ ਜਾਇ ॥੨॥
dayhurai paachhai baithaa jaa-ay. ||2||
to sit behind the temple. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I picked up my blanket and turned back,

and went to sit behind the temple.

Devotion finds a way, even from the back of the temple.
The deeper layer

Pushed out of the front, a devoted heart simply goes and sits at the back.

Lai kamlee chali-o paltaa-ay: taking my blanket, I turned back. A kamlee is a small blanket. Dayhurai paachhai baithaa jaa-ay: I went and sat behind the temple.

There is no shouting and no giving up. He finds another place to be near the One.

A Question to Sit With

When something is closed to you, how can you still do what you love?
