The Temple Turned To Face Me

ਜਿਉ ਜਿਉ ਨਾਮਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਉਚਰੈ ॥
ji-o ji-o naamaa har gun uchrai.
As Naam Dayv uttered the Glorious Praises of the Lord,
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਕਉ ਦੇਹੁਰਾ ਫਿਰੈ ॥੩॥੬॥
bhagat janaaN ka-o dayhuraa firai. ||3||6||
the temple turned around to face the Lord's humble devotee. ||3||6||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

As Namdev sang the praises of the One,

the temple turned around to face the One's humble devotee.

Love reaches the One from anywhere, no matter where you are made to sit.
The deeper layer

Love that sings from the back is met by the One, and the whole temple turns to face it.

Ji-o ji-o naamaa har gun uchrai: as Namdev sang the One's praises. Bhagat janaa ka-o dayhuraa firai: the temple turned toward the humble devotee.

The story is told as a wonder. Its meaning is plain: the place that tried to keep him out turns to face him. Family, caste and station count for nothing before the One, and love reaches the One from any place at all.

A Question to Sit With

Where do you feel closest to something bigger than yourself?
