In plain words

His mother the queen pleaded with him: "Your father the king has conquered the whole earth.

Prahlaad, my son, you won't obey him, so he has decided to deal with you another way."

A steady heart can stay gentle and firm even under pressure.
The deeper layer

Prahlaad's mother begs him to obey, and the pressure grows.

Basudhaa bas keenee sabh raajay means "the king has conquered the whole world." Basudhaa is the earth. Patraanee is the queen, his mother, who pleads with him.

Poot parhilaad kahi-aa nahee maanai means "Prahlaad, my son, you do not obey him." Tin ta-o a-urai thaanee means "so he has decided to deal with you another way." She is afraid of what the king will do.

Think of how hard it is to stand firm when even people who love you are worried and pushing. Prahlaad's heart does not move from the One. The shabad shows his calm, steady trust.

A Question to Sit With

When has it been hard to do the right thing, but you did it anyway?
