Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The One holds a devotee dear and looks after him with love.
Gopal, the Lord of the World, comes riding Garura, the great eagle.
You don't earn love by proving yourself — you're already dear.
Help comes out of care, for someone who is dear.
Apnay bhagat par kee partipaal: the One cherishes and looks after the devotee. The great eagle appears again, now carrying Gopal, a name for the One who looks after all. The coming is about care, never a show. In the Bhagats' songs, the One is drawn to sincere love the way water runs downhill, as a gift, never earned.
