ਕਹਹਿ ਤ ਧਰਣਿ ਇਕੋਡੀ ਕਰਉ ॥

The Lord said to him, "If you wish, I shall turn the earth sideways.
ਕਹਹਿ ਤ ਲੇ ਕਰਿ ਊਪਰਿ ਧਰਉ ॥੧੭॥
kaheh ta lay kar oopar Dhara-o. ||17||
If you wish, I shall turn it upside down. ||17||

The One says to Namdev, "If you wish, I will tip the whole earth onto its side.
If you wish, I will lift it up and turn it upside down."
The greatest power is the kind that stops to ask what would help.
Power big enough to move the earth arrives offering, and waits to hear what is wanted.
Kaheh ta dharan ikodee kara-o: if you say so, I will tip the earth sideways. Kaheh ta lay kar oopar dhara-o: if you say so, I will turn it upside down. Each offer begins with kaheh ta, "if you say so." Power this great waits on the word of one humble singer. It is power placed in the service of love.
