ਜਉ ਅਬ ਕੀ ਬਾਰ ਨ ਜੀਵੈ ਗਾਇ ॥
ja-o ab kee baar na jeevai gaa-ay.

ਤ ਨਾਮਦੇਵ ਕਾ ਪਤੀਆ ਜਾਇ ॥੨੬॥

If the cow had not come back to life this time,
people would have stopped trusting Namdev.
Some moments matter because they keep people's trust in goodness alive.
Much hung on this one moment: the trust of ordinary people.
Ja-o ab kee baar na jeevai gaa-ay: if this time the cow had not lived. Ta naamdayv kaa patee-aa jaa-ay: then trust in Namdev would have been lost. Patee-aa is that trust. What mattered most was the faith of humble people in a life of devotion, more than Namdev's own name.
