Seeing Further

ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਭਵਨ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਸੂਝੈ ॥
ja-o gurday-o bhavan tarai soojhai.
When the Divine Guru grants His Grace, one sees the three worlds.
ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਊਚ ਪਦ ਬੂਝੈ ॥
ja-o gurday-o ooch pad boojhai.
When the Divine Guru grants His Grace, one understands the state of supreme dignity.
ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਤ ਸੀਸੁ ਅਕਾਸਿ ॥
ja-o gurday-o ta sees akaas.
When the Divine Guru grants His Grace, one's head is in the Akaashic ethers.
ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਸਦਾ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥੪॥
ja-o gurday-o sadaa saabaas. ||4||
When the Divine Guru grants His Grace, one is always congratulated everywhere. ||4||

In plain words

By the Divine Guru's grace, you see all three worlds. By the Divine Guru's grace, you understand the highest place of honor.

By the Divine Guru's grace, your head reaches up into the sky. By the Divine Guru's grace, people everywhere cheer you on, always.

A clear heart sees wider and stands taller — without standing over anyone.
The deeper layer

The Guru's light helps you see farther and stand taller inside.

Ja-o gurday-o bhavan tarai soojhai — when the Divine Guru comes, you can see the bhavan tarai, the three worlds, which means all of life. Ooch pad boojhai — you understand the ooch pad, the highest way to be.

Ta sees akaas — your sees, your head, reaches into the akaas, the open sky. Sadaa saabaas — you live with saabaas, cheers and blessing all around.

This is not about feeling better than others. Think of climbing to a lookout point on a hike. The world looks wide and calm from up there. That roomy feeling comes when the worried self lets go.

A Question to Sit With

When have you suddenly understood something much bigger than before?
