Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
By the Divine Guru's grace, you have bathed at all sixty-eight holy places of pilgrimage. By the Divine Guru's grace, your body carries the holy mark of Vishnu.
By the Divine Guru's grace, you have done all twelve kinds of worship. By the Divine Guru's grace, every poison turns into sweet fruit.
The Guru's light gives you all the good that every holy journey was reaching for.
Ja-o gurday-o ta athsath naa-i-aa — when the Divine Guru comes, it is as if you had bathed at the athsath, the sixty-eight holy pilgrimage places. Tan chakar lagaa-i-aa — as if your body carried the chakar, the holy mark of Vishnu. Ta du-aadas sayvaa — as if you had done the twelve kinds of worship. Sabhai bikh mayvaa — all bikh, poison, turns into mayvaa, sweet fruit.
This is generous, not a put-down. The pilgrimages and rites are honored as sincere reaching. Their goal can be found within. Think of many roads on a map, all leading to one city. The Guru's light brings you right into it.
Is there something people travel far to find that might already be near you?
