In plain words

Fifty-six million clouds are Your gowns, and sixteen thousand milkmaids are the folds of Your skirt.

All the plants of the earth, in eighteen great loads, are Your walking stick, and the whole world is Your plate.

Nothing at all is left outside the One.
The deeper layer

The One is both huge and very close.

Chhapan kot kaa payhan tayraa: fifty-six million clouds are Your gown. Solah sahas, the sixteen thousand, are the milkmaid companions of Krishna in the old stories. Here they are the folds of the robe. The athaarah bhaar, the eighteen loads of plants, are the walking stick. Sahnak sabh sansaaraa: the whole world is Your plate.

The picture mixes the vast with the homely. Clouds and sky sit next to a stick and a dinner plate. Think of a grandparent who is wise about big things but also packs your lunch. The One is immense, and near. Everything is drawn into the Beloved's single body.

A Question to Sit With

What's the biggest and the smallest thing you can imagine being part of the same whole?
