In every age, those who face the Guru have known the One. Without the Naam, no one is set free.
In every age, those who face the Guru know the same One, and the Naam is the way to freedom.
This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. Kal meh raam naam vadi-aa-ee: in this age, greatness comes through the Naam. Jug jug gurmukh ayko jaataa: in every age, the gurmukhs, those who face the Guru, have known the ayko, the One. Vin naavai mukat na paa-ee: without the Naam there is no mukti, freedom. One truth runs through every age.
