ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਣ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਅਵਗਣ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਏ ॥

My Lord God is the Giver of virtue. The Word of the Shabad burns away all faults and demerits.
ਜਿਨ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਸੋਹੇ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਾਏ ॥੩॥
jin man vasi-aa say jan sohay hirdai naam vasaa-ay. ||3||
Those whose minds are filled with the Naam are beautiful; they enshrine the Naam within their hearts. ||3||

The One gives every good quality and gently burns away your faults.
Every good quality is a gift of the One, and the Word burns away faults so the heart can shine.
Mayraa prabh hai gun kaa daataa: the One is the Giver of gun, good qualities. Avgun sabad jalaa-ay: the Word burns away avgun, faults, the way the sun burns off morning fog. The burning frees; it is never there to shame. Say jan sohay: those who carry the Naam are sohay, beautiful.
