Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Those who die in the Guru's Word come alive again, and they find the door to freedom.

Deep inside they have peace and calm that last, and they keep the One held close in their hearts.

Let the small self quiet, and a door opens into steady peace.
The deeper layer

Let the old self die in the Guru's Word, and a new life begins at the door of freedom.

Gur kai sabad mareh fir jeeveh: those who die in the Guru's Word live again. What dies is the proud, grabbing self, the way a seed breaks open so a plant can grow. Mukat du-aar: the door of freedom. Har raakhi-aa ur dhaar: they keep the One held in the heart, and saant, peace, stays inside.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you had to let go of before something better could begin?
