Following his Guru's instructions, Prahlaad chanted the Lord's Name;

saasnaa tay baalak gam na karai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
he was a child, but he was not afraid when his teacher yelled at him. ||1||Pause||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Following the Guru's teaching, Prahlaad says the Naam of the One.
He is only a child, but when his teacher shouts at him, he is not afraid.
The Name is bigger than the shouting — you can be glad and unafraid.
A child who holds to the Naam can stay unafraid, even when a grown-up scolds.
This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. Gur updays: by the Guru's teaching, Prahlaad says har, the Naam. Saasnaa tay baalak gam na karai: saasnaa is a scolding. Prahlaad is a baalak, a child, and the scolding does not frighten him. The whole story grows from this steadiness.
A Question to Sit With
When was a time you stayed steady even though someone tried to scare you?
