In plain words

Full of pride, his father ran at him with a sword in his hand. "Where is your Lord now, who will save you?"

In an instant, the One burst out of a pillar in a fearsome form. Harnaakhash was brought down by the One's claws, and Prahlaad was saved.

In the frightening hour the One appears, the cruelty comes undone, and you are kept safe.
The deeper layer

When pride comes at the innocent with a sword, the One breaks through and saves them.

Haath kharhag: a sword in his hand. At ahankaar: huge pride. The king shouts, har tayraa kahaa: where is your Lord? Bhai-aan roop: a fearsome form. The One breaks out of the pillar in the shape of Narsingh, half lion and half man, as the old Indian story tells it. Harnaakhash is brought down, and Prahlaad lee-aa ubaar: the child is saved.

If someone is being unkind to you or hurting you, that is never something you have to accept. Telling a grown-up you trust is always the right thing to do.

A Question to Sit With

Who are the people who make you feel safe?
