gurmatee lay raam rasaa-in. ||2||
Follow the Guru's Teachings, and you shall obtain the Lord, the Source of Nectar. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Join the Sangat of the holy ones, and sing of the One.

Follow the Guru's teaching, and you will receive the One, the source of all sweet nectar.

Singing the One with the Sangat opens something in you.
The deeper layer

Singing together with the Sangat helps us taste the One's sweetness.

"sangat saaDh mayl har gaa-in" — join the saadh sangat, the Sangat — people gathered together to remember the One — and sing of the One. When we sing together, something opens up inside.

Gurmat means the Guru's teaching. Following it, we taste raam rasaa-in, the One as the source of all sweetness. It is like singing in a choir. Your one voice joins the others, and the song becomes richer than any of you alone.

A Question to Sit With

What's a song that feels better when you sing it with others?
