Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

In the Sangat, put the dust of the holy ones' feet on your face.

That is your bath at all sixty-eight sacred places of pilgrimage, and in the Ganges river.

Taking the humblest place near the holy washes you clean inside.
The deeper layer

The deepest cleaning happens inside, through humility.

In the satsangat, the Sangat, you put the dust of the holy ones' feet on your face. That is an old way of saying: take the humblest place. Be glad just to be near good people.

That, the verse says, is the bath at the sixty-eight sacred pilgrimage places and in the Ganges river. A humble heart gets washed clean inside. Think of a kid who happily stacks the chairs after an event. That quiet helping washes the heart.

A Question to Sit With

When has being humble felt surprisingly good?
