Even if someone is fed a hundred things they long for, again and again,
still the one whose heart is turned away does not remember the Lord, Har Har.
A heart turned away from the One can be given everything it longs for and still forget the One.
Guru Arjan describes a heart that stays shut. You can feed someone sa-o loch, a hundred good things they long for. Still they don't remember the One.
A saakat is a person who has turned away from the Source, the One. The verse describes a state a heart can be in. It isn't a name to call people. The last verse of this shabad will even hold it with kindness.
Think of a plant in a room with the blinds shut. You can water it every day, and it still grows pale. More water isn't the answer. It needs the blinds opened.
Getting lots of good things doesn't open a heart by itself. Only being willing to receive does.
What helps your own heart open when it feels closed off?
