Khuda, the One, holds up those who have nothing else to hold them up.
Day and night, remember the One who cares for the poor and the humble.
The One holds up the people who have no one else to lean on.
Khudaa-ay, Khuda, is a Persian name for the One. The Guru says the One is the support of the unsupported. He also uses the name gareeb nivaaj, the One who cares for the poor and the humble. Sufi poets, who were Muslim seekers of the One's love, used that name too.
Think of the new kid at school who eats lunch alone. Nobody has noticed them yet. The One has already noticed. The ones the world overlooks are the very ones the One holds close. Caring for the small and the humble runs all through Gurbani, the Guru's words. And the Guru asks us to remember that caring One day and night.
Who looks out for the people everyone else overlooks?
