ਧੂਰਿ ਬਾਛਹਿ ਸਭਿ ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਦੇਵਾ ॥੩॥
Dhoor baachheh sabh sur nar dayvaa. ||3||
All the angels and demi-gods long for the dust of the feet of such beings. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Serving at the feet of the One, every comfort comes.

All the angels and gods long for the dust of the feet of people like that.

Greatness looks a lot like humility.
The deeper layer

Serving the One brings every comfort, and humble servants become great.

Sarab kali-aan charan prabh sayvaa means "serving at the One's feet brings every comfort." Kali-aan is comfort and well-being. Sitting at someone's feet is a picture of humble love.

The next line says dhoor baachheh sabh sur nar dayvaa. It means "all the angels and gods long for the dust of their feet." Sur nar dayvaa are the shining beings of the old stories.

Think of the quiet helper at school who always stacks the chairs after assembly. Over time, everyone looks up to them. Humility is greatness. It is so beautiful that even the highest bow to it.

A Question to Sit With

Who is the humblest person you know, and why do you admire them?
