ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੪॥੧੩॥
naanak daas har kee sarnaa-ee. ||4||13||
Slave Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of the Lord. ||4||13||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The One does not come or go. The One fills everything, everywhere.
Nanak says: I, the One's servant, have come into the shelter of the One.
The One never comes or goes; it is already right here.
The One never comes or goes; the One is already everywhere.
Aa-ay na jaa-ee rahi-aa samaa-ee: the One does not come and does not go, but fills everything. Think of the air in your house. You never have to invite it in. It is already in every room.
Nanak rests in sarnaa-ee, the One's shelter. The shabad began with what our actions bring back to us. It ends in peace: the ever-present One is our home.
