In plain words

My Father, the One, lives forever. My brothers live forever too.

My friends never pass away. My family lives in the home deep inside me.

The deepest belonging is one that nothing can take away.
The deeper layer

The family you have in the One can never be lost.

Guru Arjan names his family one by one. Baap hamaaraa sad charanjeevee — my Father lives forever. Charanjeevee means ever-living. Here the Father is the One. My brothers live forever too, and my friends never pass away.

How can that be? Because of the last line. Kutamb hamaaraa nij ghar vaasee — my family lives in nij ghar, the home deep inside me. That is the place where we meet the One.

Think of a family group chat that never goes quiet. Wherever everyone is, they still belong to each other. This belonging holds, because it rests in the One.

A Question to Sit With

Who are the people who feel like home to you?
