Verse 4 of 5

A Song That Carries Everywhere

ਸੋਭਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਭ ਜੁਗ ਅੰਤਰਿ ॥
sobhaa mayree sabh jug antar.
My glorious reputation resounds throughout the ages.
ਬਾਜ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਥਾਨ ਥਨੰਤਰਿ ॥
baaj hamaaree thaan thanantar.
My fame has spread in all places and interspaces.
ਕੀਰਤਿ ਹਮਰੀ ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਹੋਈ ॥
keerat hamree ghar ghar ho-ee.
My praises echo in each and every house.
ਭਗਤਿ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਸਭਨੀ ਲੋਈ ॥੩॥
bhagat hamaaree sabhnee lo-ee. ||3||
My devotional worship is known to all people. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

My glory rings out through all the ages. My fame has spread to every place and every space in between.

My praises are heard in every home. Everyone knows my loving worship of the One.

Goodness has a way of traveling farther than you would expect.
The deeper layer

A life joined to the One carries its goodness far and wide.

The verse speaks of glory and fame. Sobhaa means glory, and keerat means praise. They spread through every age, every place and every home.

That could sound like bragging. Hear it instead as how far the goodness travels. What spreads is the love.

Think of a song you love. Someone plays it at home, and soon the whole neighborhood is humming it. Nobody cares who first played it. They just enjoy the song. Bhagat hamaaree sabhnee lo-ee — my loving worship is known to all people. When a life is tuned to the One, its love reaches everyone.

A Question to Sit With

Whose kindness has traveled all the way to you from far off?
