In plain words

Remembering the Naam, my mind shines bright. Remembering the Naam, wrongdoing leaves my body.

Remembering the Naam, I have celebrated every festival. Remembering the Naam, I have bathed at all sixty-eight holy places.

The most sacred place might be wherever you are, fully present.
The deeper layer

Remembering the Naam brings every holy day and every holy place to you, right where you are.

Naam lait means taking the Naam, remembering it again and again. Each line starts with it, like a drumbeat. Man pargat bha-i-aa: the mind shines out. Paap tan tay ga-i-aa: wrongdoing leaves the body.

Sagal purbaa-i-aa: every festival celebrated. Athsath majnaa-i-aa: bathing at the sixty-eight tiraths, the sacred pilgrimage places of India, where people travelled far to bathe in holy rivers. Through the Naam, every festival and every holy bath comes to you.

Think of a favorite song you can hum anywhere. You don't need the concert hall to feel it.

A Question to Sit With

Where do you feel closest to something bigger than yourself?
