The Glow of Someone Awake

ਜਾ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਭਏ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥
jaa ka-o pargat bha-ay gopaal.
That person, unto whom the Lord reveals Himself
ਤਾ ਕੈ ਦਰਸਨਿ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥
taa kai darsan sadaa nihaal.
- by the Blessed Vision of his Darshan, I am forever enraptured.
ਸਰਬ ਗੁਣਾ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥
sarab gunaa taa kai bahut niDhaan.
He obtains all virtues and so many treasures.
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਓ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੩॥
jaa ka-o satgur dee-o naam. ||3||
The True Guru blesses him with the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||3||

In plain words

The one to whom Gopal, the Keeper of the world, shows Himself — seeing that person, I am filled with joy forever.

They hold every good quality and many treasures. The True Guru has given them the Naam.

Being near someone awake can lift you all on its own.
The deeper layer

Being near someone who carries the Naam lifts your heart.

Jaa ka-o pargat bha-ay gopaal means "the one to whom the Lord shows Himself." Gopaal is a name for the One, the Keeper of the world. Taa kai darsan sadaa nihaal: "seeing that person, I am always filled with joy." Darsan is the blessed sight of someone. Nihaal means deeply happy.

Think of a calm, kind grandparent. Just sitting beside them on the couch, you feel better.

Sarab gunaa taa kai bahut nidhaan means "all good qualities and many treasures are with them." Gun is a good quality. Why are they so full? Jaa ka-o satgur dee-o naam: because the True Guru gave them the Naam. The Naam grows every good thing in a heart that holds it.
