Those who chant the Naam are my friends and Siblings of Destiny. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The Naam is my bath that makes me clean.

The Naam is my perfect gift to others.

Those who repeat the Naam are made clean all the way through.

Those who chant the Naam are my friends, my brothers and sisters.

What cleans and connects us is carried inside.
The deeper layer

The Naam is the bath that cleans the heart and the gift that is complete, and all who chant it are family.

Majan isnaan means bathing to become clean, as people do at holy rivers. Daan means giving to others. The Guru turns both inward. The Naam is the bath that cleans the heart. The Naam is the gift that is complete.

Then he says mayray bhaa-ee meet. Everyone who remembers the Naam is my brother, my friend. It doesn't matter what family they come from. Think of kids from different schools who meet at music camp. By the end of the week, the song has made them one group. The Naam does that for people.

A Question to Sit With

Who feels like family to you even though you are not related by blood?
