A Place For The Ones With No Place

ਰੋਗੀ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਖੰਡਹੁ ਰੋਗੁ ॥
rogee kaa parabh khandahu rog.
God eradicates the disease from the diseased person.
ਦੁਖੀਏ ਕਾ ਮਿਟਾਵਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੋਗੁ ॥
dukhee-ay kaa mitaavhu parabh sog.
God takes away the sorrows of the suffering.
ਨਿਥਾਵੇ ਕਉ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਥਾਨਿ ਬੈਠਾਵਹੁ ॥
nithaavay ka-o tumH thaan baithaavahu.
And those who have no place at all - You seat them upon the place.

In plain words

O One, You take away the sickness of the sick.

O One, You wipe away the sorrow of the sad.

Those who have no place at all, You seat in a place of their own.

You join Your servant to loving devotion.

There is a place for everyone who feels they have none.
The deeper layer

The One heals the sick, comforts the sad, and gives a place to those who have none.

Rogee kaa prabh khandahu rog: the One breaks the sickness of the sick. Dukhee-ay kaa mitaavhu prabh sog: the One wipes away the sorrow of the sad.

Nithaavay ka-o tumh thaan baithaavahu: those with no place, You seat in a place. A nithaavaa is someone with nowhere to stand: no home, no group, no one making room. Think of a new kid in the lunchroom holding a tray, and someone sliding over to say, sit here. The One makes room like that, for everyone. Daas apnay ka-o bhagtee laavhu: and the One joins the servant to loving devotion.

A Question to Sit With

Where is a place you feel you belong?
