In plain words

When the Guru was fully pleased with me, my fear went away.

I keep the Naam of the pure One in my mind. The One is kind to the humble, and always full of mercy. Every knot I was tangled in has come undone.

When fear leaves, the knots inside come undone.
The deeper layer

When the Guru is pleased, fear leaves, and the knots of life come undone.

Gur suparsan ho-ay bha-o ga-ay: the Guru was pleased, and fear went away. Naam niranjan: the Naam of the pure One, kept in the mind. Deen da-iaal: kind to the humble, to the small and the poor. Janjaal are tangles, the knots of worry and busyness we get caught in.

Think of a ball of string that has been knotted for weeks. A patient hand finds the loose end, and the whole thing comes free.

A Question to Sit With

What is a fear that got smaller once you understood something better?
