Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Wherever I look, I see Your shelter.
I give myself, again and again, to the feet of the True Guru.
Shelter is everywhere you already are.
Wherever you look, you are inside the One's shelter.
This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. Jat kat paykha-o tayree sarnaa: wherever I look, there is Your shelter. Bal bal jaa-ee satgur charnaa: I give myself over and over to the True Guru's feet. It is an old way of saying "I love you with everything I have."
Think of a tent pitched under a wide night sky. Turn any way you like, and the same sky is over you.
A Question to Sit With
Where do you feel most at home, no matter what?
