Prahlaad was shut in a room, and the door was locked.
The fearless child was not afraid at all. He said, “Inside me is the Guru, the Lord of the World.”
The one who was made tried to compete with his Maker, and the great name he took for himself was empty.
What was written for him from the start came to pass; he had picked a quarrel with the One's humble servant.
Prahlaad is locked in a room, and still he is not afraid.
parahlaad kothay vich raakhi-aa — he was shut in a cell, and the door was locked. But the verse calls him nirbha-o baalak, the fearless child. He was not scared at all, because, he said, mayrai antar gur gopaalaa: the Guru, the One who cares for the world, is inside me.
Then the verse turns to the one who locked him up. He was made by the Creator, yet he tried to compete with the Creator and called himself great. That was never going to work. It is like a drawing trying to argue with the artist. What was written for him came to pass, because he picked a fight with the One's humble servant.
Where do you find company inside yourself when you are alone?
