His father raised a club to strike Prahlaad, and said, “Where is your Lord of the Universe now?”
Prahlaad answered, “The Life of the World, the Great Giver, is my helper in the end. Wherever I look, I see the One there, filling everything.”
The One fills every place, even when someone angry demands to know where the One is.
The father raises a club and shouts, "Where is your Lord of the Universe now?" Prahlaad answers calmly. The One is jagjeevan, the Life of the world, and daataa, the Giver. The One is his helper to the very end. Then comes the heart of the shabad: jah daykhaa tah rahi-aa samaa-ee — wherever I look, the One is there.
The father looks for the One in one spot. Prahlaad knows the One fills every place, the way air fills every room of a house. The same words appear in other shabads of this raag, like the one about millions of worlds.
If someone is being unkind to you or hurting you, that is never something you have to accept. Telling a grown-up you trust is always the right thing to do.
Where is a place you would not expect to find the One, that you could look at differently?
