In plain words

There is only One. And the One is found by the True Guru's grace — a gift that is always here, waiting for an open heart.

The one who keeps the Naam in their heart is a great king.

The one who keeps the Naam in their heart sees all their work come out whole.

The one who keeps the Naam in their heart gains millions of treasures.

Without the Naam, a life slips by wasted.

The richest thing a person can carry lives in the heart.
The deeper layer

The richest person is the one who keeps the Naam in their heart.

The words jis naam ridai mean "the one who has the Naam in the heart." They come back again and again through this whole song, like the chorus of a favorite tune.

Such a person is vad raajaa, a great king. They have pooray kaajaa, their work well done. They gain kot dhan, millions of treasures. Think of a kid with an empty pocket but a heart full of friends and kindness. Who is the rich one?

Naam binaa janam birthaa jaa-ay — without the Naam, life slips by empty. Even a busy, full life can feel hollow without the one thing that lasts.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you carry inside you that feels more valuable than anything you own?
