Sikhism·Raag Bhairao·Shabad 99
Verse 6 of 9

The Darkness Simply Clears

ਅਚਿੰਤ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਬੈਰ ॥
achint hamaaray binsay bair.
Spontaneously, I am rid of hatred.
ਅਚਿੰਤ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਮਿਟੇ ਅੰਧੇਰ ॥
achint hamaaray mitay anDhayr.
Spontaneously, my darkness has been dispelled.
ਅਚਿੰਤੋ ਹੀ ਮਨਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਮੀਠਾ ॥
achinto hee man keertan meethaa.
Spontaneously, the Kirtan of the Lord's Praise seems so sweet to my mind.
ਅਚਿੰਤੋ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਡੀਠਾ ॥੫॥
achinto hee parabh ghat ghat deethaa. ||5||
Spontaneously, I behold God in each and every heart. ||5||

In plain words

All on its own, my grudges and hatreds have melted away.

All on its own, my darkness has cleared.

All on its own, the song of the One's praise tastes sweet to my mind.

All on its own, I see the One in each and every heart.

When your own darkness clears, you start to see light in everyone.
The deeper layer

When grudges melt, we see the One in every heart.

"achint hamaaray binsay bair" — all on its own, my hatreds vanish. Bair means hatred or a grudge. Then the darkness inside clears, and the song of praise tastes sweet.

"achinto hee parabh ghat ghat deethaa" — I see the One in each and every heart. Ghat means a heart or a body. This is the fruit of a cleared heart. The oneness of Ik Onkar, the One Creator of all, becomes something felt as well as believed. Think of wiping a foggy window. The view was always there; now you can see it.

A Question to Sit With

When you feel peaceful inside, how do you see other people differently?
