Verse 7 of 9

Doubt Lifts, Music Rises

ਅਚਿੰਤ ਮਿਟਿਓ ਹੈ ਸਗਲੋ ਭਰਮਾ ॥
achint miti-o hai saglo bharmaa.
Spontaneously, all my doubts have been dispelled.
ਅਚਿੰਤ ਵਸਿਓ ਮਨਿ ਸੁਖ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮਾ ॥
achint vasi-o man sukh bisraamaa.
Spontaneously, peace and celestial harmony fill my mind.
ਅਚਿੰਤ ਹਮਾਰੈ ਅਨਹਤ ਵਾਜੈ ॥
achint hamaarai anhat vaajai.
Spontaneously, the Unstruck Melody of the Sound-current resounds within me.
ਅਚਿੰਤ ਹਮਾਰੈ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ਗਾਜੈ ॥੬॥
achint hamaarai gobind gaajai. ||6||
Spontaneously, the Lord of the Universe has revealed Himself to me. ||6||

In plain words

All on its own, every doubt has melted away.

All on its own, peace has come to rest in my mind.

All on its own, a music no one plays sounds inside me.

All on its own, the Lord of the World rings out within me.

Deep peace is like music that plays inside you with no instrument.
The deeper layer

Doubt lifts, and a quiet music starts inside.

"achint miti-o hai saglo bharmaa" — all on its own, every doubt is gone. Then sukh bisraamaa: peace finds its resting place in the mind.

"achint hamaarai anhat vaajai" — the anhat plays within me. Anhat means the "unstruck melody," a music made by no instrument. It is an old picture for a heart that is awake and at rest. Gobind, the One, sounds out inside. Think of a still morning when you can hear your own heartbeat. Nothing is playing, yet there is music.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever felt a quiet music of calm inside you? When?
