I come face to face with my Beloved, by great good fortune; my Husband Lord never wavers. ||1||

In plain words

Following the Guru's teaching, I settled into a deep, natural ease — my whole self coloured through with love, like a cloth dipped in bright dye.

By great luck I came face to face with the One I love, and this bond does not wobble or waver.

Love that soaks all the way through does not wobble.
The deeper layer

Some love is so steady that it never wobbles.

Sahj samaa-i-o gureh bataa-i-o means as the Guru showed me, I settled into sahaj, a deep and natural ease. Rang rangee mayray tan kee cholee means the cholee, the garment of my body, is dyed in love's color. Think of a white T-shirt dipped in bright dye. Every thread takes on the color.

Gurbani often pictures the soul as a bride and the One as her Beloved. Pari-a mukh laago ja-o vadbhaago means by great good fortune, I came face to face with my Beloved. Suhaag hamaaro katahu na dolee means our bond never wavers. Suhaag is the bond of a happy marriage. Here it means steady belonging, like knowing your family will always be there.
