Sikhism·Raag Bilaaval·Shabad 108
Verse 2 of 3

Wherever I Look, There You Are

ਕਿਆ ਕਥੀਐ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਥਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
ki-aa kathee-ai kichh kathan na jaa-ee.
What can I say? I cannot say anything.
ਜਹ ਜਹ ਦੇਖਾ ਤਹ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jah jah daykhaa tah rahi-aa samaa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Wherever I look, I see the Lord pervading. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

What can I say? Nothing I could say would ever be enough.

Wherever I look, You are already there, filling it all.

Look anywhere closely enough and you find the One already there.
The deeper layer

Words run out, and the One is everywhere.

This is the Rahao, the pause the whole shabad turns on. Ki-aa kathee-ai kichh kathan na jaa-ee — what can I say? Nothing can be said. Jah jah daykhaa tah rahi-aa samaa-ee — wherever I look, the One is there, filling it. Think of the air: you cannot hold it up to show anyone, and still it is in every breath you take.

A Question to Sit With

Where is an unexpected place you have felt something bigger than yourself?
