Blissful Through the Poison-Forest

kul samooh uDhray khin bheetar janam janam kee mal laahee.
All his generations are redeemed and saved in an instant, and the filth of countless incarnations is washed away.
simar simar su-aamee parabh apnaa anad saytee bikhi-aa ban gaahee. ||1||
Meditating, meditating in remembrance on God, his Lord and Master, he passes blissfully through the forest of poison. ||1||

In plain words

In a single moment, whole families are lifted, and the grime of ages washes off.

Remembering, remembering the One I belong to, I walk right through the tangled, poisonous woods of this world — and I walk through them glad.

You can pass through hard, tangled places and still be glad.
The deeper layer

kul samooh uDhray khin bheetar — a lift that reaches beyond the individual to their people. bikhi-aa ban gaahee — crossing the ban, the forest of poison (the world's traps and temptations) — and anad saytee, with a glad heart all the way.

A Question to Sit With

What helps you stay light-hearted when you are in a difficult stretch?
