Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of his Lord and Master; taking him by the arm, God has lifted him up and out. ||2||24||110||

In plain words

Harmful habits make a vast, dark sea of pain, and people get swept up in it.

Nanak says: I came to the shelter of my Master, and the One took me by the arm and lifted me out.

However lost you feel, a hand can reach in and lift you out.
The deeper layer

However rough the sea, a hand can reach in and lift you out.

Mahaa bikaar ghor dukh saagar — harmful habits make a deep, rough sea of pain, and it is easy to get pulled under. Saran paray — coming into the shelter of the One. Baah pakar prabh kaadh la-i-aa — the One takes hold of an arm and pulls the swimmer out. Think of a lifeguard who sees you struggling and swims straight to you.

This lifting hand turns up again and again in Raag Bilaaval.

A Question to Sit With

Who could you reach a hand out to when they feel stuck?
